About Us

The Bow Valley Model Railroad Association, located in Calgary, Alberta, is a private club consisting of about 20 members whose interests include several popular scales but HO is the most common.

The club is an enthusiastic supporter of the Calgary Model Railroad Society (CMRS) and has a seat on its Board of Directors.

The club has no permanent space and meetings are usually held in members' homes, thus limiting the number of members who can be accommodated. Membership is almost always full and club meetings are very well attended. We occasionally have room for one or two new members, so contact us through our web site if you are interested.

The club participates in most model railroad shows and activities in and around Calgary and is a supporter of the Calgary Model Railway Society.

The club attends SUPERTRAIN in Calgary every year and also shows in Edmonton, Moose Jaw, and other locations. In 2016, the club had a layout in Salmon Arm for the Selkirk Express Model Train Show.

Our modular layout can be configured for small and large spaces and is at a low level to facilitate viewing by children and handicapped individuals. New modules are always being developed and existing modules are upgraded from time-to-time as well. So every display is different and this adds interest for both the viewing public and the members.

The club is proud of its public service record and often displays a layout at seniors' residences and other similar locations around the city.

The club celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2013 and is one of the longest existing model railroad clubs in the city. You can read a brief history of our club over the years here.
